Ciara Miller said everything without saying anything at all, and the Bravo universe lost its mind.
On March 31, Miller attended the Season 2 premiere of “Your Friends & Neighbors” on Apple TV+. During a red carpet interview, “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm asked how she was doing. “I’m good,” she replied — then paused. “Well, I’ve been better.”
Miller posted the clip to Instagram later that night with a caption that read: “If you can’t trust your Friends & Neighbors, who can you trust?” Hours later, her former best friend Amanda Batula and her ex-boyfriend West Wilson confirmed their romance in a joint Instagram statement.
According to TMZ, Miller had already obtained video footage of Amanda and West together in an intimate setting inside his apartment before the public announcement. Neither Amanda nor West knew the moment was recorded. Amanda reportedly reached out to Ciara by text the Monday before the statement, telling her she had never meant to cause her pain.
The Statement That Started It
On March 31, Batula and Wilson each posted a joint statement to their Instagram Stories confirming the relationship. “We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” it read. “It was never our attention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
They described the connection as growing out of a “genuine, long-standing friendship” and said they never wanted their actions “to cause any hurt or be perceived as careless.”
Why This Hits Different for Ciara
West and Ciara dated during Season 8 of “Summer House” in 2023, but he ended things, saying he couldn’t commit. The fallout played out painfully over the next two seasons, with Ciara spending much of that time deciding whether to forgive him. Throughout all of it, Amanda was her closest ally.
Season 10, which is currently airing, captured West and Ciara still navigating unresolved feelings, flirting on camera, with the door seemingly open to a rekindling. Fans watching the season in real time are now watching it with a very different lens.
Bravo Stars Flood the Comments
Ciara’s post racked up support fast.
Paige DeSorbo, who is not on Season 10 but has been close friends with both women for years, dropped three separate comments: “Ur perfect,” a row of clapping emojis, and “Beautiful.” Lindsay Hubbard wrote “Perfection,” while Season 10 newcomer Dara Levitan added “And that’s how you do it.”
Dylan Efron commented red hearts. According to E! News, “The Traitors” star “Boston” Rob Mariano posted a dinner outing photo with Ciara to his Instagram story, captioning it “Team Ciara.”
Then came the biggest co-sign of all. Page Six reported that Rihanna unfollowed Amanda on Instagram shortly after the confirmation dropped. The irony: Amanda had previously revealed in an interview with People that Rihanna once slid into her DMs calling her a “favorite,” and Amanda never responded because she felt overwhelmed.
Fans Are Calling It “Amandoval”
Online commenters have drawn comparisons to the “Vanderpump Rules” Season 10 scandal known as Scandoval, in which Tom Sandoval cheated on Ariana Madix with one of Ariana’s closest friends, Raquel Leviss. The “Summer House” version has already been dubbed “Amandoval,” according to Refinery29, and the reunion has not even filmed yet.
According to Rolling Out, Andy Cohen addressed fan theories that he knew about the romance in advance, telling his SiriusXM radio show on April 1 that he had no advance knowledge and was caught off guard. He said he had no shortage of questions after the reunion, which he is scheduled to host later this month.
Ciara has not made any further public statement. But her message, intentional or not, already said more than enough.
“Summer House” Season 10 airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams on Peacock.
