Danielle & Mohamed From ’90 Day Fiancé’ Season 2: Their Journey & Where They Are Now

No couple in “90 Day Fiancé” history made a bigger impact faster thanDanielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali. They were the franchise’s first truly controversial pair — the ones who turned casual viewers into obsessed fans and gave the show its reputation for being genuinely unpredictable. More than a decade later, their story has taken turns nobody saw coming, including one that might be the most surprising of all.

How They Met

Danielle Mullins, a single mother from Ohio, and Mohamed Jbali, a 26-year-old from Tunisia, first connected in an online chatroom. Their 15-year age gap — she was 41, he was 26 — was immediately a talking point, with Mohamed frequently reassuring her that age was just a number. They grew close through long Skype calls before Mohamed came to the United States on a K-1 visa.

From the first episode, the red flags were flying. Danielle’s children questioned Mohamed’s intentions openly. Mohamed refused to be intimate with Danielle, citing religious rules. And Danielle’s financial situation — which included significant debt and a complicated employment history — created tension that Mohamed struggled to hide on camera.

They married despite all of it. Mohamed moved to Miami before the end credits rolled on their season. Danielle was left behind in Ohio.

What followed became some of the most memorable television the franchise has ever produced. Mohamed revealed he had never been attracted to Danielle and said several deeply unkind things about her publicly. He also recounted calling the police on her for various incidents, including opening a bank account in his name.

The tell-all was particularly brutal. Mohamed made comments about Danielle’s personal hygiene on national television that no amount of time has fully erased from viewers’ memories. It remains one of the most uncomfortable moments in franchise history.

Mohamed left Danielle right after getting his green card, which made her feel used. She filed for an annulment to have him removed from the country, citing infidelity. However, Danielle claimed Mohamed begged her not to file for divorce so he could stay in America. The two eventually divorced in 2017.

The Aftermath

After the breakup, Danielle stayed in Ohio and focused on raising her children. She later appeared on “90 Day: The Single Life,” where cameras followed her attempts to move forward with dating and an emotional reunion with Mohamed. In one exchange, she told him directly that, because of him leaving, she had struggled to trust men again and that she deserved an apology. Mohamed countered that he had feelings too and that the marriage had not been entirely his fault.

It was messy and unresolved, which felt honest.

Following his split from Danielle, Mohamed lived in Miami, Austin, and Chicago before settling in Indianapolis. He built a social media presence around self-improvement content, posting motivational videos and launching a YouTube channel, though he has kept his personal life increasingly private over the years.

The Twist Nobody Expected

Here is where the story takes its most surprising turn. Mohamed Jbali eventually remarried — a woman named Jillian Lee Jbali. And Danielle has known Jillian’s name since January 2024, because Mohamed tells Danielle about his new life. The two remain in private contact.

The couple who had one of the messiest, most public dissolutions in franchise history ended up as friends. Not a dramatic reconciliation or a spinoff-friendly reunion — just two people who went through something difficult together and eventually found their way to something civil and even warm.

Although the couple never got back together, they developed a friendship and have come a long way since their first appearance in Season 2.

Where They Are Now

Danielle remains active on social media with over 269,000 Instagram followers, posting about her life, her grandchildren, and her ongoing connection to the “90 Day Fiancé” community. She has appeared on multiple franchise spinoffs over the years and has never fully stepped away from the world the show created for her.

Mohamed has kept a lower profile in recent years. He is married to Jillian, and in August 2025 she announced the birth of their son — posting a photo of a newborn in a “Little Brother” onesie and writing that she could not express how grateful she was to have another beautiful, healthy boy. He is living his life largely outside the public eye while maintaining the unlikely friendship with his first wife that nobody would have predicted in 2014.

Mohamed was one of the franchise’s first true villains — the one who taught viewers what red flags actually looked like and gave “90 Day Fiancé” its reputation for producing complicated, morally messy television. Whether he deserves that label entirely or whether the full picture is more complicated is a conversation fans have been having for over a decade.

What is not in question is the mark they left. Danielle and Mohamed changed what 90 Day Fiancé was. Everything that came after them, in some way, built on what they started.

90 Day Fiancé and its many spinoffs are streaming now on Max. New episodes air on TLC.
