Could Luke Broderick Be Lala Kent’s Baby’s Father? The Wildest ‘The Valley’ Storyline Yet, Explained

Nobody saw this coming. Least of all Lala Kent.

During “The Valley” Season 3 premiere, Lala shared what she described as a “funny” story. Her mom had noticed that one-year-old Sosa “kind of looks like Luke.” What happened next is the part nobody was prepared for. Luke Broderick, Kristen Doute‘s fiancé and fellow cast member, casually revealed that he had “donated sperm to the same sperm bank that Lala used to conceive Sosa” while he was in college.

“When he said, ‘I’ve donated sperm,’ I think you could see the shock on my face,” Lala told Us Weekly. “I genuinely was like, ‘Holy s—.’”

In her confessional, Lala put it plainly: “I did not have on my bingo card that he would say he’s been a sperm donor at the same cryobank I got Sosa from. Now Kristen is Sosa’s stepmom. Oh, f—k no.”

The Details That Are Not Helping

@tashaleerealitytv

Can you imagine being Lala and finding out that Luke, Kristen Doutes baby daddy could also be your baby daddy 💀💀💀 LaLas Face 😭 oh these people are too funny. From Vanderpump Rules to the Valleys they are still as iconic as ever 🤣 @Lala Kent @Kristen Doute @Bravo @BravoWWHL #vanderpumprules #thevalley #bravo #lala #fyp

The reason this storyline has legs is because the coincidences keep stacking up. On “The Valley After Show,” Luke recalled watching Lala select her donor profile on an old “Vanderpump Rules” episode and noticing the details — age, body type, education — and thinking, “Huh, that sounds a lot like me.”

On WWHL, Andy Cohen pointed out that the notes Lala had on her sperm donor matched Luke’s background specifically, and that the baby looks like Luke. Kristen agreed the resemblance is there. She still doesn’t think Luke is the father, but her reasoning is notable.

“Lala’s batch was a lot fresher than Luke’s college sperm. So, no,” Kristen told Andy. “That’s what they told her. It was a fresh batch.” Andy’s follow-up: “How do you know it was fresher?” Kristen: “That’s what they said.”

I wouldn’t exactly call that airtight.

The Problem: Nobody Actually Knows

Luke told Us Weekly that the nature of sperm donation means he genuinely cannot confirm or deny anything. “We sign a form. I gave up the right to know. So if she chose to send my swimmers upstream, then Sosa can find out one day if she wants to know.” He added: “I mean, Lala chose this route. I think it’s only fair to Sosa that she gets to make that decision.”

Lala addressed it directly on the after show. “He’s not Sosa’s father,” she said. Then added: “Could you imagine I fight so hard to not have a baby daddy, and then Luke’s just, like, right in front of me? That’s like my worst nightmare.”

Brittany Cartwright summed up the room: “That would be the craziest turn of events of all time.”

Where Things Stand

Lala says no. Kristen says probably not, based on freshness. Luke says he genuinely does not know and has legally relinquished the right to find out. The baby reportedly looks like Luke. The donor profile reportedly matched Luke’s stats.

Luke and Lala, for what it’s worth, are on better terms than they have ever been. Luke told Us Weekly they “got along the best we ever have this year after she apologized” for past comments about him. Kristen and Lala also reconciled after a year and a half of not speaking. The timing of all that goodwill landing right as this storyline emerged is either a very funny coincidence or very good Bravo producing.

Either way, Sosa will have the option to find out the truth one day.

“The Valley” Season 3 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams Thursdays on Peacock.
