‘The Valley’ Season 3 Episode 2 Recap: Schwartz Makes His Move and Janet Is Sorry — Sort Of

Episode 2 aired April 8 and picked up the threads from the premiere with more emotional depth than anyone expected from a party scene at a one-year-old’s birthday. Two storylines drove the hour: Tom Schwartz making his feelings for Michelle Saniei increasingly undeniable, and Janet Caperna attempting, with mixed results, to repair the damage she did to several friendships last season.

SNEAK PEEK FOR NEXT WEEK:

Schwartz Tells His Brother, Then Tells Everyone Else

The episode opened at Schwartz’s North Hollywood townhouse, where he told his brother Robert “Burt” Schwartz: “Eventually, I’m gonna meet somebody, I’m gonna ask her to move in, and if I’m lucky, make some babies.” He paused, then corrected himself to a singular “baby.”

By the time Lala Kent‘s daughter Sosa’s first birthday party rolled around, the plan was already in motion. Schwartz had already asked Michelle on a date before arriving to the party and was filling in friends when Michelle walked up. She cut in immediately: “That’s how rumors are started.” Not a denial. Just a redirect.

Later, Schwartz opened up to a producer about his new feelings. “I think I underestimated Michelle,” he said. For a man who arrived this season openly declaring he wants to settle down and find his person, landing on someone navigating her own fresh divorce from a castmate is either perfect timing or a recipe for group drama. Probably both.

The Salt Cave Conversation

The standout moment of the episode has nothing to do with gossip or group drama. Schwartz and Michelle visited the Valley Salt Cave for a sound bath session. Afterward, Michelle opened up about her spirituality and then shared something she says she rarely talks about. “I had to watch my mom die in front of my eyes. And that was very hard. I’m still not okay,” she said in a confessional.

Schwartz matched her vulnerability. “My family’s in complete f—king disarray,” he told her. “My dad is living by himself.” He explained his father had started to deteriorate over the past few years. Michelle encouraged him to call his dad as often as he could.

Later during the same conversation, Schwartz asked Michelle a personal question about her “mojo,” specifically wondering aloud if his own sex drive should be higher and noting that sex was the last thing on his mind. An unusual move for a man who just asked someone on a date, but nothing about this pairing is going according to a normal script.

Lala invited most of the group to celebrate Sosa’s first birthday party, but the guest list left some people feeling excluded. The party became the backdrop for multiple side conversations about relationships, loyalties, and who is on whose side, which, on “The Valley,” is essentially the show’s entire operating system.

Janet Tries to Make Amends

Janet Caperna made an attempt to smooth things over with several members of the group, with mixed results. Where the apologies landed depended entirely on who was receiving them. The episode’s title, “Snip Snip,” applies not just to Schwartz’s baby ambitions but to the clean cut Janet is trying to make from the tension she created, and the season is already suggesting that cut will not stay clean.

Kristen and Luke: Still Struggling

Luke and Kristen’s intimacy issues carried over from the premiere. Luke spelled it out directly: “I just feel that we’ve been neglecting ourselves and our relationship.” He wants to get back to their old dynamic. Kristen declined both his suggestions for how to do that. A newborn will do that. The cameras being present will also do that. The two things together are… a lot.

“The Valley” Season 3 airs Wednesdays 8/7c on Bravo and streams on Peacock.
