Lala Kent dropped an Instagram carousel this week captioned “My world recently.” Selfies, Easter eggs, Sosa playing, Ocean and Lala asleep together. Sweet, simple, the kind of content any single mom might post.
Fans who have been following Lala’s situation with her ex, film producer Randall Emmett, read it as something more deliberate. Ocean is all over her mother’s social media. She has been absent from “The Valley” Season 3 Episode 2, when Lala hosted Sosa’s first birthday party on camera. Those two facts are directly connected. And Randall is the reason.
After the episode aired, fans took it further than Lala was willing to let slide. She posted to Instagram to address it head on: “A lot of people were wondering where Ocean was in last night’s episode of ‘The Valley’ for Sosa’s birthday. Some of you even going as far as saying, ‘Does Lala not love Ocean anymore?’ So stupid. She’s not allowed to film, you guys. You know this. The other side will not give consent, which you need both parents. But Sosa only needs my consent, so she’s able to appear. Ocean was here. She was thriving. And it is a travesty that she cannot be on camera. But you know what? It’s all good. I have no control over it, so I’ve set it into the universe. Woosah.”
Why Ocean is Not on the Show
Lala has been open about Randall refusing to allow Ocean to be filmed since their split. She told Entertainment Tonight: “He likes to be in the spotlight. He had no problem parading my child into scenes when he was a part of it. And now, suddenly, it’s not good for her? So I knew. Like, he didn’t even have to send me some stupid legal letter. I was like, I know how this works.”
Randall appeared on “Vanderpump Rules” himself during his and Lala’s relationship, Ocean in tow. The moment the relationship ended in 2021, the consent disappeared with it.
Lala addressed the filming question directly during the “Vanderpump Rules” Season 11 premiere. “His biggest thing is, ‘I don’t want to give her full legal because that would mean she could put Ocean on ‘Vanderpump Rules.’ But I will give her final say on education and health.’ And I’m like, ‘Well, that is all I f—king want.’”
Why Sosa is a Different Situation
The reason Sosa appears on “The Valley” while Ocean does not comes down to a simple legal difference. Sosa was conceived via anonymous sperm donor, meaning Lala is the sole legal parent and the only consent required is hers. She gave it. Sosa is on camera.
Ocean has two legal parents. One of them says no. That answer has not changed.
What Lala Wants Fans to Understand
The Instagram post was not just clarification. It was a correction. Lala shut down the idea that Ocean’s absence signals anything about their relationship. Ocean was at the birthday party. She just was not allowed to be filmed at it.
For a woman who has been fighting this battle since 2021, that closing word says a lot about where she has landed on a situation that cannot change.
“The Valley” Season 3 airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams Thursdays on Peacock.
