Charlie Tiedemann wasn’t supposed to be the story of “Vanderpump Villa” Season 3. He came in as one of four bartenders, a new face in a cast full of returning drama, and spent the first episode quietly observing everyone else’s chaos. Then the Devin Walker situation happened, then Ariel happened, then Lisa handed him a $20,000 bonus and called him the heart of the summer. Here is everything to know about the man who ended up being one of the most genuinely likable people in the room.
Where Charlie Tiedemann Is From and What He Does
Charlie Tiedemann is a New York-based bartender with real credentials — which sounds like a low bar after watching Nick King struggle with a whiskey sour all season, but it is worth noting. Before joining “Vanderpump Villa,” he worked at venues in New York City including Onieal’s, and he comes with flair bartending skills. His Instagram bio describes his spirit animal as a coconut cream cake, which tells you roughly everything you need to know about his energy.
He showed up to Rosecroft Park with his tagline — “right place, right people, right energy” — and proceeded to actually live by it, which is rarer on reality television than it should be.
Charlie Tiedemann’s Family Background — and Why He Needed the Money
One of the most quietly affecting moments of the season came in Episode 1 when Charlie opened up about his family in confessional. His grandfather was successful on Wall Street, and part of his legacy was paying for Charlie’s education — giving him access to one of the best schools in New York. But his father broke away from the family business to become an artist and director, and after the 2008 financial crash, life got different. Charlie came into the summer carrying credit card debt and no safety net.
When he won the $20,000 badge of congeniality at the end of the season, his reaction was immediate and real: “20,000? Holy s—t. I worked really, really hard this summer. I really could use the money, and the recognition really means a lot to me.” That was not a performance. That was a person who genuinely needed the win.

He Was Upfront About His Weakness — Women
Charlie told the camera in Episode 1 that every time he had been fired, it had something to do with a beautiful woman. He said it with a self-awareness that was almost charming, and then proceeded to develop crushes on approximately three different guests across the season. Tina caught his eye first. Then there was a moment with Hannah. Then Ariel from Bachelor Nation arrived and Charlie was, in his own words, “in love again.”
He kissed Ariel in the hot tub during Episode 6 on a dare, then kissed her again at the bar later that same night without any dare being involved. When the Bachelor Nation group drove away, Charlie ran after the car and kissed Ariel goodbye. His confessional about her: “I think we’ve got a really cute connection. I think I’m in love again.” He is very earnest about this. It is impossible to be annoyed by.
The Devin Walker Moment Defined His Season
If there was one episode that made viewers fully invest in Charlie, it was Episode 4. Devin Walker screamed at him in the hot tub for allegedly flirting with his girlfriend Michelle — while Charlie was, by all visible evidence, just having a conversation. The next morning Devin attempted a one-on-one that started as an apology and ended with him telling Charlie to fix his body language.
Charlie held his ground in a way that was measured, direct, and genuinely impressive given the power dynamic at play. “I’m in a situation where I’m supposed to support you as your host, and I am in no place to defend myself because of this power dynamic. I don’t think it’s necessarily fair how you came at me.” He then went directly to Lisa. Her response — “Sometimes a guest isn’t always right” — was as much a validation of Charlie as it was a rebuke of Devin.
He got emotional that same night talking to Hannah about where the line is in hospitality. It was one of the most human moments of the season and nobody was really talking about it because the bathtub flooding was happening at the same time.
Lisa Vanderpump Loved Him From the Start
The “Made in Chelsea” group’s comment cards in Episode 2 called Charlie out as the star of their stay. Lisa pulled him into the office alongside Marciano Brunette to share the feedback, and the distinction was clear — Charlie’s reviews were glowing across the board. Sophie from Made in Chelsea said she thought he was good looking. Sam Vanderpump‘s group absolutely loved him. The Bachelor Nation group put him at the top of their comment card too.
Lisa described him at the finale as embodying “the feel-good factor” — bringing life and essence to every event, making guests feel welcome, carrying the energy of the room. The badge of congeniality and its $20,000 bonus went to him, and based on what played out across ten episodes, it was not a controversial call.
He Ended the Season on Top
Charlie walked away from Rosecroft Park with $20,000, a reputation as one of the most well-liked people on the show, and a run after Ariel’s car that the internet found extremely cute. He did not win the $50,000 — that went to Hagen Bach— but he won something arguably harder to manufacture on a reality show: a genuinely good edit that he appeared to earn.
His Instagram is @charlietieds if you want to follow what comes next. Given the season he had, it would be surprising if this is the last we see of him.
