Katherine LaPrell is one of the most memorable cast members to come out of “Too Hot to Handle” Season 6, and not because she played it safe. She walked into that villa and immediately started breaking rules, breaking up connections, and breaking the internet. Now she is walking into the “Perfect Match” villa — alongside two people she already has significant history with.
Here’s everything you need to know.
Who Is Katherine LaPrell?
Katherine LaPrell is a 30-year-old fashion model and content creator based in Los Angeles. She has worked with numerous fashion designers and clothing brands throughout her modeling career and describes herself as the outspoken one in any room she walks into.
She is an Aquarius — something she references frequently on her social media and which she has said comes out strongly in her dating life — and her golden cavapoo named Zeppelin is, by all accounts, the true love of her life.
She has a sharp, self-aware sense of humor about her own reality TV persona and has leaned into it fully since “Too Hot to Handle” aired.
What Happened on ‘Too Hot to Handle’
Katherine’s Season 6 arc was one of the most chaotic the show has produced. She arrived and immediately set her sights on Charlie Jeer, an English saxophonist who had already been paired with Lucy Syed from the beginning.
She made out with Charlie essentially right away, which did not go over well with Lucy or Lana. When Charlie picked Lucy over her initially, Katherine did not waste time feeling sorry for herself. She redirected her energy toward returning cast member Louis Russell and racked up several more rule breaks with him, including a notably steamy night that had the entire house talking.
But the Charlie situation kept pulling her back. Eventually Charlie declared Katherine his person, breaking things off with Lucy, and pairing with Katherine instead. They finished the season as a couple and came in as runners-up — losing the top prize to Bri Balram and DeMari Davis, who walked away with $100,000.
Katherine and Charlie did not stay together after filming.
The audience was split on Katherine throughout the season. Some found her magnetic and refreshing. Others found her approach to the rules and to other people’s relationships frustrating. She has acknowledged all of it on social media with the kind of self-deprecating humor that tends to turn even skeptics into fans.
The ‘Perfect Match’ Dynamic
Katherine enters Season 4 with two very specific pre-existing connections in the cast. Bri Balram and DeMari Davis — the couple who beat her and Charlie in Season 6 — are both in the villa. They have since broken up, which means the woman who came in second to their relationship is now in a house with both of them while they are single. The competitive and romantic history between all three of them is going to be one of the more interesting undercurrents of the season.
Katherine also has a track record on reality TV that is very hard to ignore. She is not someone who plays it quiet, she is not someone who avoids drama, and she is not someone who has ever pretended to be less interested in someone than she actually is.
Walking into “Perfect Match” — a show specifically designed to test compatibility and stir up chaos — with that personality is either going to make her the season’s breakout star again or its most dramatic casualty.
Why She’s One to Watch
Katherine LaPrell finished second on “Too Hot to Handle” Season 6 and was one of the most talked-about cast members of that season. She comes into “Perfect Match” with a higher profile than most of her castmates, a built-in rivalry dynamic with two people already in the villa, and a personality that has never once been boring on camera. The show handed her a situation tailor-made for her particular energy.
“Perfect Match” Season 4 premieres May 13 on Netflix.
