From a shared $100,000 prize to a cheating triangle, the drama started long before anyone stepped into the villa.
“Perfect Match” Season 4 premieres May 13 on Netflix, and while the show is designed to help strangers find love, several of its cast members are anything but strangers. Before a single compatibility challenge happens, there’s already a web of shared history, prior relationships, and complicated dynamics baked into this cast.
Here’s every connection worth knowing going in.
The ‘Too Hot to Handle’ Season 6 Triangle: Bri, DeMari, and Katherine
The most straightforward pre-existing connection in the Season 4 cast is also the most loaded. Brianna Balram and DeMari Davis won “Too Hot to Handle” Season 6 together — taking home $100,000 of the $125,000 prize fund as the season’s top couple. They dated after filming. They broke up.
Now they’re both in the “Perfect Match” villa.
Making it more complicated: Katherine LaPrell was the runner-up on that same season of “Too Hot to Handle,” finishing second alongside her connection Charlie Jeer.
Katherine, Bri, and DeMari all shared a villa once before, competed against each other, and came out on different sides of the result. Now all three are back in the same house with a new group of singles and a show specifically designed to test whether people can find something real — or whether old history gets in the way first.
The producers are very aware of what they have assembled here.
The ‘Temptation Island’ Season 9 Web: Danny, Hashim, Yamen, and Natalie
“Temptation Island” Season 9 — the first season of the show on Netflix, premiering in March 2025 — sent four of its tempters and temptresses directly into the “Perfect Match” Season 4 villa: Danny Spongberg, Hashim Moore, Yamen Sanders, and Natalie Cruz. All four were on the same season. All four know each other. And one of them is connected to a cheating storyline that directly involves another.
Here is how it played out.
Danny and Natalie were both tempters — but on opposite sides of the experiment, meaning they were never in the same villa together during filming. Danny was tempting the coupled women’s partners while Natalie was tempting the coupled men.
The couple at the center of the most dramatic storyline was Grant Larsen and Ashley Moore — a pair already dealing with Grant’s prior infidelity who came onto the show hoping to find clarity.
Grant found a different kind of clarity. He was the first person in the season to give into temptation, pursuing Natalie Cruz and having multiple intimate encounters with her, including a night in the shower and a trip to the temptation haven. Ashley watched the clips at the bonfire and, understandably, declared herself a single woman about halfway through the experiment. She gave into her own connection with Danny Spongberg from there — who started as a supportive presence and developed into something more. They went to temptation haven twice.
At the final bonfire, Ashley called Grant a serial cheater and they broke up. Ashley left the island with Danny. Grant left alone, choosing not to pursue things further with Natalie despite everything that had happened between them.
Now Danny and Natalie are both in the “Perfect Match” villa — on the same side this time — with full knowledge of how that season ended and exactly what role each of them played in it.
Yamen Sanders and Hashim Moore round out the “Temptation Island” Season 9 contingent.
Yamen also has a longer reality TV trail than most. He previously appeared on “Love Island USA” Season 1 before “Temptation Island,” and in 2026 did “Love Island: All Stars” Season 3 before landing in the “Perfect Match” villa.
He is one of the most experienced reality TV veterans in the entire cast.

To summarize what is walking into the “Perfect Match” Season 4 villa: Bri and DeMari won a competition together and dated. Katherine competed against them both.
Danny and Natalie were on opposite sides of a cheating scandal that ended two relationships.

And all of them are now supposed to find their perfect match among a group of people who include their exes, their rivals, and their former co-stars.
