The housekeeper who came in with a work ethic, a calm disposition, and a situationship that tested both.
Sage Smith was one of the newer, younger faces on “Vanderpump Villa” Season 3 — and one of the more quietly interesting ones. She didn’t come in loud, she didn’t come in with an agenda, and she spent most of the season just trying to do her job and navigate a romantic situation that kept making that harder. Here’s everything you need to know about her.
Who Is Sage Smith?
Sage Smith joined the Season 3 cast as one of the housekeepers at Rosecroft Park, working alongside returning housekeepers Hagen Bach and new addition Adair Werley.
Her background in hospitality started earlier than most. Before “Vanderpump Villa,” Sage had worked in a retirement home as a housekeeper while in college and worked her way up to a caretaker role. She didn’t come into Rosecroft as someone testing out a new industry for fun. She came in with real experience and real stakes.
Her Season in a Nutshell
Sage’s Season 3 arc had two major threads running parallel to each other: her standing with Lisa and her situation with Tyler Winston. Both were more complicated than they probably needed to be.
On the work side, Sage was called into Lisa’s office mid-season for a performance conversation. Lisa told her she had been at the bottom of the comment card and that she needed to interact with guests more. Sage’s response, both in the room and in confessional, was notably unbothered. She told producers she was on a high dose of Lexapro and that nothing really stressed her out. She said she wanted to be there one hundred percent, and Lisa made clear it was her final warning.
What made that conversation cut a little deeper was what happened immediately after. When Sage made the effort to talk to guests — specifically Bachelor Nation guest John during the Bachelor week — Tyler read it as flirting and reacted badly.
She found herself in the position of being told to do her job better by her boss and punished by her situationship for actually doing it. She said in confessional that she felt anxious, like she’d done something wrong, and that she didn’t think it was worth continuing.
The Tyler Situation
Sage and Tyler’s connection started fast and felt genuine. They were cuddling on the punting trip by Episode 2, and Tyler was openly smitten — nearly dropping the word “love” in a confessional before catching himself. For a few episodes they were the season’s sweetest storyline.
Then Tyler overreacted to a guest mentioning he’d heard Sage was seeing someone, and Sean not seeming convinced she was taken. Sage confirmed she was exclusive with Tyler and went to tell him because she thought it was funny. Tyler did not find it funny. He ignored her, refused to make eye contact, and shut her out until she was in tears in their room confiding in Meredith Lambert.
Sage’s confessional take was clear and direct: “Do I think Tyler’s my person? No. It’s giving toxic, and it’s not what I want.” She also told him to his face that she had been pretty healthy in her relationships before this, implying the toxicity was not her pattern — it was his.
They made up. Tyler apologized. Sage gave him another chance. Whether that was the right call is a question the season left open. From the reunion trailer, it looks like there will be more to discuss on the couch.
What Made Her Stand Out
Sage was young, on a high dose of anxiety medication, working in a high-pressure environment, being monitored by Lisa Vanderpump, and navigating a romantic situation with someone who struggled to trust her.
The fact that she handled all of it with as much composure as she did says something. Her willingness to name what was happening — “it’s giving toxic” — without spiraling was one of the more grounded moments in a season that had a lot of spiraling.
She didn’t win the bonus. She didn’t get a badge. But she came in as one of the least experienced people on staff and made it through all ten episodes, which at Rosecroft Park is its own kind of accomplishment.
The “Vanderpump Villa” Season 3 reunion streams April 30 on Hulu. See what we know and watch the trailer here.
