Parker Posey, an Italian villa, $250,000, and yes — Demi Engemann
Hulu just announced its next big reality competition, and if you thought “The Traitors” had a stranglehold on the “celebrities lying to each other in a beautiful European location” format, think again. “The Mob” is coming, and it has a cast that is going to make Bravo fans very loud on the internet.
What Is ‘The Mob?’
“The Mob” sends a group of celebrities to a lavish Italian villa where they will shake down, hustle, and whack their way to win up to $250,000 in cash prizes. Every episode, they tackle mob movie-inspired jobs to survive. The central twist is the don mechanic — the group must vote to make one of them the mob family “don,” giving that person absolute power to decide who makes money, who stays, and who ultimately gets whacked.
The question hanging over the whole game: will the don maintain the family’s loyalty, or will they ultimately be overthrown?
If that sounds familiar, it’s because it comes from a very familiar place. “The Mob” comes from the producers of “The Traitors” — Studio Lambert and Primal Media — so the pedigree for this kind of format is very much there.
Who Is Hosting?
Parker Posey is hosting and executive producing. Yes, that Parker Posey, fresh off her Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG nominations for “The White Lotus.”
In the teaser, she steps out of a black car and narrates: “The most important thing, when putting together a new family, is personality. And this crew has got a lot of it.”
She closes with: “As for me — I may look cute, but I kind of run the place.”
Casting her as the don-adjacent overseer of a mob-themed competition is genuinely inspired, and if she brings even a fraction of her White Lotus energy to this, it is going to be television.
Who Is in the Cast?
This is where it gets interesting.
The celebrity cast includes Willam Belli (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Demi Engemann (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives), Maria Georgas (Bachelor Nation), Joe Gorga (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Harry Jowsey (Too Hot to Handle, DWTS), Chelsea Lazkani (Selling Sunset), Debi Mazar (Younger), Bella Palk (Love Overboard), Shane Parton (Bachelor Nation), Romeo (Musician), Bruno Tonioli (Dancing With the Stars), and Aida Turturro (The Sopranos).
Let’s talk about a few of these specifically.
Demi Engemann joining a Hulu competition show is a choice that is going to generate conversation, given that her involvement in the Marciano and Jessi Draper situation is still very much part of the current “Vanderpump Villa” and “SLOMW” discourse. Marciano alleged on “VPV” Season 3 that Demi and Scheana Shay pressured him into claiming he had slept with Jessi — a claim he later said he regretted making. Putting Demi on a show that will air on the same platform where all of that is still playing out is a lot. The comment sections are going to have opinions.
Maria Georgas was a Bachelor Nation guest at Vanderpump Villa Season 3 — Bachelor Nation fans will recognize her from her season and her presence in the villa added some fun energy. Bella Palk is from Love Overboard, which is also a Hulu show, so Hulu is very much leaning into the interconnected reality universe angle here. Bruno Tonioli doing mob-themed challenges is something nobody asked for and everyone will absolutely watch. Joe Gorga in an Italian villa is just Gorga in his natural habitat.
Aida Turturro playing Janice Soprano on “The Sopranos” for years and now appearing on a mob-themed reality competition is the kind of casting that feels almost too perfect to be accidental.
When Does It Premiere?
“The Mob” does not have an official premiere date yet but will be coming to Hulu in 2026. Given that Hulu announced it yesterday at the Get Real House event alongside several other new series, it is safe to assume more details are coming soon.
“The Mob” streams on Hulu later this year. We will be watching.
