Sandy Gallagher and Louis Russell: Their Perfect Match Journey, Why It Fell Apart, and Where They Are Now

Sandy Gallagher and Louis Russell arrived at “Perfect Match” Season 3 carrying more reality TV baggage than almost anyone else in the house — and not the kind you unpack quietly.

Sandy, 29, a former corporate sales manager from Los Angeles, had appeared on “The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On” Season 3 earlier in 2024. The experience was, in her words, “so intense and stressful” and “honestly such a hard experience.” She entered with a long-term partner and left single. When “Perfect Match” came calling later that summer, she was ready for something that felt more like an adventure and less like an ultimatum. She also came with unfinished business in the form of J.R. — her “Ultimatum” trial husband — which would become one of the season’s central complications.

Louis Russell, from Hampshire, England, had appeared on “Too Hot to Handle” Season 5 — a show designed to test the limits of people who default to physical connection. He hadn’t distinguished himself as a committed romantic partner on that show either. Louis arrived in Tulum with the kind of confidence that reads as charming in episode one and exhausting by episode four. His cast-mates would later describe it as a very short attention span when it came to anyone who wasn’t directly in front of him.

They matched on day one. They were one of the first two people to have a one-on-one conversation in the villa and quickly realized their energy aligned. The attraction was immediate and the dysfunction was close behind it.

What Happened In the Villa

Sandy and Louis had a shared personality profile — sassy, banter-heavy, and flirtatious — which made them compelling to watch and difficult to sustain. They fought over the kissing contest. Louis questioned whether Sandy truly liked him or just tolerated him. Sandy brought J.R. into the house from the boardroom — partly to test Louis, partly to resolve her own unfinished business — and then decided her ex belonged in the past.

“The past few days have really opened my eyes to what I have with Louis,” she said mid-season. “I’m catching feelings and they’re just getting stronger and stronger.”

Then came the guys’ mixer. Louis kissed two women during a game of truth or dare, and continued kissing one outside of it. He came back to the villa and told Sandy the truth rather than lying about it. She was devastated, but also moved by the honesty. The fact that he respected her enough not to lie helped her forgive him, and that was the moment they both realized how much they actually cared about each other.

They made it to the Season 3 finale as one of five couples — alongside Lucy Syed and Daniel Perfetto, Madison Errichiello and Freddie Powell, Rachel Recchia and Ray Gantt, and AD Smith and Ollie Sutherland.

Sandy and Louis were eliminated in the final compatibility challenge, along with Madison and Freddie, and Rachel and Ray. Lucy and Daniel won the season. AD and Ollie were voted runners-up.

Why It Fell Apart

The reasons were practical, and they both acknowledged them freely. “We didn’t really have any expectations leaving the experience, to be honest,” Sandy told Elite Daily. “We were very real about certain things: we live in different countries; there’s a bit of an age gap; we are working on different things in our lives.”

They did go on one last couples’ trip to Cancún with Season 3 winners Lucy and Daniel after filming. Then things just fizzled out.

Louis’s explanation was simpler. He said that his lifestyle didn’t permit a long-distance relationship and that pursuing something serious with Sandy across international borders wasn’t feasible given his obligations outside the show.

Neither of them went public with the breakup — but the public didn’t need them to.

The Huda Situation – And Sandy’s Very Public Response

While “Perfect Match” Season 3 was still airing, Louis was photographed walking a red carpet at the premiere of the film “Weapons” with “Love Island USA” Season 7 star Huda Mustafa. They held hands. He was smiling. The season finale hadn’t aired yet.

Sandy didn’t hold back. “He’s on what seems like a PR tour of his new relationship,” she told Elite Daily. “To be honest, the cast is really upset with what he’s doing because it’s disrespectful to the production, cast, and audience. It seems very calculated, and I definitely lost some respect for him as a friend.”

She was also candid about her concerns for Huda herself. “It seems very convenient for him to all of a sudden be dating the biggest reality star right now. That makes me a little sad and concerned for Huda’s sake, because I think anyone in this space needs to be careful with that type of stuff.”

Rachel Recchia, Sandy’s cast-mate, echoed the frustration on “The Viall Files” podcast, saying she was “disappointed” and calling Louis’s behavior “a little selfish” given that it affected the whole cast.

Miguel Harichi, a “Love Island USA” Season 6 alum connected to the wider drama through Leah Kateb, also addressed the situation on Instagram Stories — saying that the people close to him had unfollowed Louis not because of his relationship with Huda specifically, but because their reasoning for pursuing it “didn’t sit right with them.”

Where Sandy Is Now

Sandy moved on faster than the timeline might suggest. “I’ve been seeing somebody for the last couple months,” she said in an August 2025 interview. “We’re really happy. Things are really good.” She has not publicly identified who she is seeing.

She has leaned fully into her public profile since the show. Sandy is building a presence as an influencer and public figure across social media with a candid, unfiltered voice that has made her one of the more followed cast members from Season 3. She remains close with several of her “Perfect Match” co-stars and has been outspoken in a way that feels consistent rather than strategic.

She hasn’t spoken to Louis since filming wrapped, and doesn’t appear to need to.

Louis and Huda Mustafa made their relationship Instagram official in September 2025. They competed together on Alex Cooper’s Unwell Winter Games in April 2026. In March 2026, reports surfaced that Huda had been ordered to temporarily stay away from Louis’s ex, Nicole Olivera, and their son, after she was accused of making threats against them — a detail that added another layer to an already complicated post-show story.

Louis has appeared on “Battle Camp” and continues to be one of the more active members of the Netflix Reality Universe social circuit.

Whether his relationship with Huda has the longevity that his relationship with Sandy didn’t is a question the internet is watching closely.

“Perfect Match” Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming now on Netflix.
“Perfect Match” Season 4 premieres May 13, only on Netflix.
