As if Ciara Miller needed any more people in her corner right now, New York City’s mayor just showed up.
According to Reality Blurb, Zohran Mamdani weighed in on the “Summer House” star this week, offering up an appreciation that the Bravo fandom did not see coming. “I guess the first thing I would say to her is thank you for saving people’s lives,” Mamdani said. “She was a nurse, I think. We appreciate that. We appreciate her in New York City.”
Coming from any politician, the quote would be a fun moment. Coming from Mamdani, it lands differently.
According to Al Jazeera, earlier this year, Mamdani joined nearly 15,000 striking nurses on the picket line outside Mount Sinai West in what became the largest nurses’ strike in New York City history. Standing alongside Senator Bernie Sanders in freezing temperatures, he called on hospitals to return to the bargaining table and said, “Our nurses kept this city alive through its hardest moments. Their value is not negotiable.”
So when he says he appreciates a nurse, he means it.
Who is Ciara Miller, Exactly?
For anyone who stumbled into this story from outside the Bravo universe, Ciara is a “Summer House” cast member currently at the center of the biggest reality TV scandal of 2026. Her best friend Amanda Batula confirmed a romance with Ciara’s ex-boyfriend West Wilson on March 31, sending the internet into full meltdown mode.
But before any of that, Ciara worked as an ICU nurse, including on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has spoken candidly about the emotional toll of that work on “The Squeeze” podcast. She described how COVID “took it up like 10 notches” in terms of the deaths she witnessed. Miller recently said she still loves nursing education and wants to find a purpose in the field outside of bedside care, while keeping her license active, according to Bravo.
“I did my time at bedside,” she said on “The Squeeze” podcast in February. “I think there’s still a purpose for me outside of bedside, still in the nursing world. I still love the education and everything — all the knowledge. I think it’s vital.”
The Internet’s Reaction
Fans flooded the comments exactly as you would expect. Team Ciara has been growing by the day since the ScAmanda news broke, adding Paige DeSorbo, Hannah Berner, Boston Rob, Dylan Efron, and Rihanna to its roster. A sitting mayor shoutout is simply the latest and arguably most unexpected addition to the list.
One fan put it best in the comments: the man joined a nurses’ strike in January and is now defending a reality TV nurse in April. He is consistent, if nothing else.
Ciara has not made a direct public statement about the ScAmanda situation. The “Summer House” reunion is expected to film in late April.
