Updated May 9, 2026: There was speculation that the season was filmed in France; however, the trailer has since confirmed that Season 4 does, in fact, take place in Mexico.
Mexico, a new format, and a cast that already knew each other before the cameras rolled. Here is the full breakdown.
When Was ‘Perfect Match’ Season 4 Filmed?
“Perfect Match” Season 4 filmed in November 2025, approximately six months before its May 13, 2026 premiere. The timing lines up with the show’s established pattern. Filming typically takes place roughly a year before a season’s release, with Season 3 filming in September 2024 before its August 2025 premiere.
A fan comment on cast member Yamen Sanders‘ Instagram confirmed the November 2025 timeline, noting that he had filmed “Perfect Match” before subsequently appearing on “Love Island: All Stars Season 3,” where he met his current girlfriend Whitney Adebayo.
Where Was ‘Perfect Match’ Season 4 Filmed?
Season 4 was filmed in November 2025 in a tropical villa setting consistent with the show’s established format. Seasons 2 and 3 both filmed at Casa Xolo in Tulum, Mexico, and the Season 4 trailer shows a similar warm-weather, villa-style environment.
Netflix has not officially confirmed the specific location for Season 4, with the exception of the trailer announcing they were back in Mexico.
Previous seasons filmed at:
- Season 1: Casa Naga, a six-bedroom luxury villa in Playa Bonita, Panama — available to rent for $7,300 per night
- Seasons 2 and 3: Casa Xolo, a luxury villa in the Tankah Bay area of Tulum, Mexico, approximately ten kilometers from Tulum town
How Long Does Filming ‘Perfect Match’ Take?
Each season films over approximately three weeks, during which time all the singles enter the villa, couple up, compete in challenges, and are eventually whittled down to a winning couple.
The condensed timeline is part of what makes the show’s format work. There’s no extended period for relationships to develop slowly. Connections either click fast or they do not, which is why pre-existing history between cast members tends to dominate early dynamics.
How ‘Perfect Match’ Works
“Perfect Match” gathers alumni from across the Netflix reality universe — “Love Is Blind,” “Too Hot to Handle,” “Temptation Island,” “The Ultimatum,” and beyond — and drops them into a villa with one goal: find a lasting match before the finale. In recent seasons, they have extended beyond the Netflix cast, with this season including its first Bravo member, Ally Lewber.
The format works like this. Singles arrive and pair up based on initial attraction. Every episode, the couple who wins the compatibility challenge earns boardroom power — meaning they can break up existing couples and invite new singles into the villa for dates. When the new daters return, everyone re-matches. Anyone left without a partner goes home. In the end, the singles who left come back to vote for the couple who will be crowned the Perfect Match.
Season 4 introduces a format change that Netflix has teased but not fully detailed. Host Nick Lachey confirmed in the trailer that “we’re changing everything” — addressing a recurring criticism that cast members who were not selected by boardroom couples got very little screen time. The new format appears to give all singles access to early compatibility challenges from day one, leveling the playing field from the opening episode.
The Cast Connection Factor
One of the more unique aspects of Season 4 specifically is how many cast members already knew each other before filming.
Danny Spongberg, Hashim Moore, Yamen Sanders, and Natalie Cruz all appeared on “Temptation Island” Season 9 together.
Brianna Balram, DeMari Davis, and Katherine LaPrell all competed on “Too Hot to Handle” Season 6.
Weston Richey and Yamen were in the “Love Island USA” Season 1 villa together in 2019.
Nick Pellecchia and Jimmy Presnell are current Miami roommates.
Walking into a villa in Mexico with pre-existing alliances, rivalries, and exes already baked in is a very different starting point than a room full of strangers.
When to Watch ‘Perfect Match’ Season 4
